M Cel Phase II

2009 - completion 2010 – 12,0 mil USD

My 2007, and due to the rapid expansion of cellular phones, the client M Cel had run out of office space and approached Mesch to add some 9000sqm of GLA to their existing office park. This was quite a challenge as we really had no more space on the site.

We responded to this brief by designing a 10 storey office tower, different in architectural style to the original classical design, with modern contemporary façade and curtain wall glass.

The existing open parking bays were covered by a slab to form a “basement” on ground floor and an open air campus style piazza created on the first floor. Workers and employees will enjoy sitting in the sun having their lunch in this open air piazza. The building has magnificent views over the bay of Maputo.

The building has a spectacular double volume entrance with public access off the main road. A new M Cel hi-tech shop occupies the new ground floor south wing and access to the first floor via escalator and a sweeping stair.
